MidWest Enterprises for the Blind, Inc., Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month with Continued Commitment to Creating and Protecting Jobs for People Who are Blind

MidWest Enterprises for the Blind, Inc. (MWEB) participates in month-long observance this October to raise awareness of the many types of jobs employees who are blind hold in the workforce.

 Here in Kalamazoo, Michigan MWEB is working to showcase the capabilities to Kalamazoo and surrounding communities about the workforce capabilities of people who are blind and celebrate the achievements of its employees as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) this October. This year NDEAM is emphasizing the essential role that people with disabilities play in America's economic success.

 For twenty-five plus years, MWEB has helped create employment opportunities for people who are blind; it currently employs more than 23 people who are blind. These employees at MWEB offer a full-service assembly, packaging, fulfillment/warehousing facility that provides quality products and services to a wide range of government and commercial customers. MWEB is ISO 9001:2015 certified, utilizes the latest in technology logistics and proudly stands by everything that is produced.

 “National Disability Employment Awareness Month marks one of the most important times of the year for our agency,” said Karen Walls, President. “We here at MidWest Enterprises for the Blind are dedicated to offering competitive career paths for people who are blind and NDEAM provides an excellent opportunity to showcase for the public the skills and abilities of our employees.”

MidWest Enterprises for the Blind is one of more than 100 nonprofit agencies associated with National Industries for the Blind (NIB), which produces thousands of SKILCRAFT® products and provides professional services for federal and military customers through the federal government’s AbilityOne® Program. NIB and its associated agencies employ more than 6,000 people who are blind in a variety of positions, serving as the largest employer of people who are blind in the United States.
