How did you come to work at MWEB? I came here on the recommendation of my counselor at the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons. Before working here, I sent out a lot of applications, I got a few interviews, but I wasn’t getting a call back. I was upfront with them about being legally blind and I always wondered if that was one of the reasons I didn’t get a call back.
I reached out to MWEB and was asked to come in for an interview. It only took a couple of weeks before I heard back with the good news that I had gotten a job! I started to work as a seasonal employee on the production floor assembling and packaging items.
What is your role here? I work in sales support doing data entry currently. I was promoted to this position summer of 2018 after there was an opening in the department. I take orders and enter them into the system as well as work with billings and a few other details to make sure that the warehousing and distribution flows smoothly. Because I’m still going to school and I’m hoping to work in technology, this is a good fit for me. I really feel like I’m contributing as well as developing my skills. This job also works really well with my school schedule.
How has working at MWEB impacted you professionally? Before this, I worked at the WMU bookstore part time, so this is my first “real” job. It is giving me a lot of experience with data entry as well as learning to better navigating a variety of computer systems. I really want to work with computers in the future, optimizing software and troubleshooting, fixing bugs, etc. so this is helping me get more familiar with how systems should work.
How has working at MWEB impacted you personally? Basically this job has given me something to fall back on in a couple of ways. Socially, my friends used to give me a hard time about not having a job and now I have a job that I’m proud of and can talk about. Financially this job has helped me to support myself and have some money to go out and have fun. I’m really glad that MWEB has given me the opportunities that it has.

The company really turns the mission into a reality by providing not just skills and work for employees, but a quality product for customers as well.Gage Campbell, Quality Coordinator
Our mission is to find work and employ blind individuals so that they can become economically independent. The people we employ want to work, be independent and earn their way. But people should know that we are also a manufacturing facility that focuses on quality. We’re ISO certified and customer-focused.Glen Mackey, VP of Operations
My passion is helping people and that's exactly what MWEB is all about. From employing members of the blind community to serving our customers, I couldn't ask for a better place to work.
Jonathan Kraker, VP of Marketing and Business Development
Working here is exciting, because I was able to take my degree and put it to use. The company provided an opportunity to go to DC to participate in National Industries for the Blind’s Public Policy Forum. I meet legislators and advocate for people who are blind. Being a champion for people who are blind has really sparked my interest.
It’s a wonderful investment that the company has made, where employees can learn lifelong skills that they can use in their personal lives, and also apply to their profession.Misty Stenberg, Public Policy Liaison
I believe in what this company provides. Our mission, to provide employment to people who are blind, and to provide quality products and services to our customers, are what motivate me.
I’m proud of working with such great people.Vicky Hickok, Administrative Manager
Our mission statement is to employ people who are blind, but it’s so much more than that. We are giving people an opportunity, that they can not only work and have their independence, but they can also grow and equip themselves. This company will help people develop skills, even if they want to move on to other employment.
When losing my vision, I felt that my options were being narrowed, but MWEB was a new beginning.William Drain, Business Development Coordinator
